Acne and breakouts are common skin conditions that affect many people, particularly during adolescence, though they can occur at any age.

Acne

Acne is a chronic, inflammatory skin condition that occurs when hair follicles become clogged with oil (sebum) and dead skin cells. This blockage creates an environment where bacteria can thrive, leading to inflammation and the formation of various types of skin lesions, including:

  • Comedones: These are non-inflammatory lesions and can be open (blackheads) or closed (whiteheads).
  • Papules: Small, red, raised bumps that are inflamed but do not contain pus.
  • Pustules: Similar to papules but contain pus, making them look like red bumps with white centers.
  • Nodules: Large, painful, solid lumps beneath the skin’s surface, caused by severe inflammation.
  • Cysts: Deep, painful, pus-filled lumps beneath the skin’s surface, often leading to scarring.

Breakouts

Breakouts refer to the occurrence of multiple acne lesions at one time. These can include any combination of the acne types mentioned above and are usually triggered by various factors such as:

  • Hormonal Changes: Such as those during puberty, menstruation, pregnancy, or from conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
  • Stress: Which can increase the production of hormones that stimulate oil glands.
  • Diet: Certain foods, especially those high in sugar and dairy, can trigger breakouts in some individuals.
  • Skincare Products: Products that are too harsh or not suitable for one’s skin type can clog pores and lead to breakouts.
  • Medications: Some drugs, including steroids and lithium, can cause acne.

FAQ

What are the side effects of Acnelan peel?

Side effects associated with this procedure are minimal and mild. You may feel a mild heat sensation after the procedure. You may also feel mild irritation and the treated site may redden. Your skin can also peel for 3 to 5 days after the procedure.

48 hours post, avoid swimming pools, saunas, or spas. 2 weeks post, avoid waxing on treatment site. Do not pick any peeling / flaking skin as this can cause scarring.

HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT LAST? To maintain the results of the Acnelan peel strict home care and maintenance is essential. In more severe cases 2-4 treatment programs may need to be performed each year to completely resolve the acne.

alicylic acid is one ingredient that may cause a temporary bout of acne. 1 Known as "skin purging," worsening acne is a short-term reaction to ingredients that speed up cell turnover. Salicylic acid helps your body quickly get rid of dead skin cells.

How Effective Is Acnelan? Clinical trials have proven that the acnelan peel significantly reduces inflammatory acne lesions and post-acne pigmentation, with reduced sebum (oils) and improvement of skin texture in 100 per cent of cases.

The properties of m. acne complex™ have been studied at an in-vitro level, and they have shown to reduce redness and swelling in lesions, as well as to have a depigmentation effect by reducing the ability to synthesise melanin. - Decrease in sebum production: this slows down the secretory activity of sebaceous glands.
