Effective treatments to reduce acne scars and minimize pores, renewing your skin.

Description

Atrophic Scars: These are depressed scars that sit below the surrounding skin tissue and are the most common type of acne scar. They are divided into three subtypes:

  • Ice Pick Scars: Narrow, deep scars that resemble small holes.
  • Boxcar Scars: Broad, rectangular depressions with well-defined edges.
  • Rolling Scars: Wide depressions with a rolling or undulating appearance.

Hypertrophic Scars: Raised scars that sit above the surrounding skin tissue, less common than atrophic scars, and typically found on the chest and back.

Keloid Scars: Thick, raised scars that extend beyond the original wound. They can be itchy or painful and may continue to grow over time.

Enlarged pores can be caused by excess sebum production from overactive oil glands, loss of skin elasticity due to aging, genetic predisposition, and sun damage that breaks down collagen and elastin, causing pores to stretch.

Acne scars and enlarged pores can significantly affect the texture and appearance of the skin. A combination of topical treatments and procedural interventions can improve these conditions.

FAQ

What are the treatment side effects?

Some side effects that may be experienced after the procedure can include swelling and skin redness at the treatment site. Although this can depend on the individual's response to the treatment and may not affect every patient, this is a normal response. Any effects of this nature usually subside within a few hours.

DO NOT vigorously rub the skin after treatment, DO gently wash your face and continue with your usual skincare routine. Do NOT undergo laser treatments, chemical peels, waxing, the use of depilatories, or microdermabrasion for 3-4 weeks after treatment.

The results of fractional skin resurfacing are long lasting as the treatment stimulates the body's natural collagen and elastin production which is permanent. Once full and optimal results are achieved collagen stimulation will continue for up to 8 months.

Fractional RF produces significantly better results when compared to traditional micro-needling devices. This is achieved with deeper needle penetration and the added component of new collagen production by radiofrequency energy. These results are scientifically proven and more well-established in research papers.

To get the best out of the procedure, up to 5 treatments sessions are recommended. These can be carried out every 2 months. To keep your complexion looking its best, maintenance treatment can be performed yearly or as required.

Hypertrophic scars and keloids are two different manifestations of excessive dermal fibrosis and are caused by an alteration in the normal wound-healing process. Treatment with radiofrequency (RF)-based therapies has proven to be useful in reducing hypertrophic scars.
